Over the years Volvo Group in India has grown from a few 100 employees to over 3500 employees [12000 employees including the JV VE Commercial Vehicles], with over 400 sales & support points across the country. The Group has 3 factories near Bangalore – for Volvo Trucks, Volvo Buses, Volvo Construction Equipment.

Additionally, in our JV Company – VE Commercial Vehicles, we have recently established the medium-duty engine factory at Pithampur which supplies engines to Volvo Group products across the world as well as India.

President & Managing Director

Kamal Bali

Mr. Kamal Bali, President and Managing Director, Volvo Group India has an illustrious career spanning nearly four decades, predominantly in the automotive industry. An engineering graduate from the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT) and an alumnus of St. Joseph’s Academy Dehradun, Kamal began his professional career as a management trainee with the Eicher Group in 1981. Prior to spearheading the Volvo Group in India, Kamal worked with a couple of leading Indian & multi-national organizations (Escorts, SAME Deutz-Fahr & LeeBoy) in senior executive positions.

In December 2019, Kamal was Knighted and awarded one of Sweden’s highest honour in the Royal Order of the “Polar Star: Commander” by Their Majesties, the King and Queen of Sweden for his untiring support to the Swedish commerce & industry in India.

Respected for his value-based leadership and strong ethos, he is also the recipient of the prestigious “2019 Machinist Lifetime Achievement Award” by the Times of India Group for his outstanding contribution in the field of Manufacturing.
