In partnership with Narayana Health and under the aegis of the Confederation of Indian Industry (CII), Volvo Group launched a unique and innovative free vaccination drive called ‘Vaccination on Wheels’. The Volvo Bus has since been operating as a mobile vaccination clinic, providing easy vaccine accessibility to some of the remotest villages in rural Karnataka helping many senior citizens, agricultural laborers and people with disabilities. In these areas where vaccination hesitancy is so high, that Volvo Group volunteers traveling with the paramedics went right up to the doorsteps of underprivileged communities to allay any fears they may have and help increase vaccine coverage.
On a rainy day in July 2021, 31 CSR volunteers - and needless to say, nature lovers - ventured on a 2.5-hour bus journey to Bilikal forest in the Bannerghatta forest range, around 110 km from downtown Bengaluru. Their mission - to clear the forest area of the litter left behind by tourists. In addition to collecting around 15 sacks full of glass liquor bottles and plastics strewed around the forest, Volvo Group donated 10 big waste collection bins for organized garbage collection and disposal of waste. These are a few examples of the many outreach programs undertaken for the betterment of society this year at Volvo Group, to give you a flavor of how societal initiatives are one of the key elements in driving employee engagement.
I am overwhelmed to be a part of the Volvo CSR Team and feel privileged to be able to help and contribute towards such a noble cause. The Covid Care Center made me find a family within Volvo who are so passionate and empathetic to mankind
