Volvo Trucks North America will feature the VNR Electric, the 25th anniversary VNL 760 and an original Volvo VN truck from 1996 in its booth (No. 8131) at the American Trucking Associations’ (ATA) 2021 Management Conference & Exhibition (MC&E) Oct. 23–26 in Nashville, Tennessee.

The Volvo VNR Electric, in addition to the 25th anniversary model of the VNL 760 and Volvo VN model from 1996, will be highlighted in the Volvo Trucks North America booth at ATA MC&E in Nashville Oct. 23-26, 2021.

“This year’s ATA event provides an ideal opportunity for an up-close look at the innovations that continue to make Volvo Trucks the leader in North American transport solutions,” said Chris Stadler, product marketing manager at Volvo Trucks North America. “In addition to our offerings in integrated systems intelligence, advanced telematics and fuel economy, the VNR Electric represents our uncontested leadership in the growing marketplace of battery-electric, heavy-duty trucks.”

The Volvo VNR Electric is Volvo Trucks’ first commercially available battery-electric Class 8 vehicle, manufactured at the New River Valley assembly facility in Dublin, Virginia. It is equipped with a driveline rated at 455 horsepower, generating up to 4,051 lb.-ft. of torque. With a 264-kWh battery capacity, the Volvo VNR Electric can also support an operating range of up to 150 miles based on the truck’s configuration. Additionally, it has the ability to recharge to an 80% level of battery energy within 70 minutes.

In addition, the 25th anniversary Volvo VNL 760 will be displayed at ATA MC&E. Volvo Trucks most recently announced that the D13 Turbo Compound (D13TC) engine is now standard on all Volvo VNL models. Designed to minimize greenhouse gas emissions while enhancing fuel economy, the D13TC engine delivers up to 6% fuel economy improvements over the 2020 Volvo D13 VGT engine.

To celebrate the 25 year anniversary and showcase how Volvo Trucks continuously accelerates the shift towards new, more efficient and sustainable transport solutions, an original model from the VN model’s introduction in 1996 is also on display.

“In 1996, the VN model revolutionized the North American transport industry, setting new standards of safety, aerodynamics, driver productivity and fuel efficiency,” said Johan Agebrand, director of product marketing, Volvo Trucks North America. “Since then, the VNL has carried on the tradition and continued to set new industry standards, as well as products such as the Volvo I-Shift transmission, Volvo Dynamic Steering and now our latest groundbreaking offering, the Volvo D13 Turbo Compound engine.”
