Volvo in Golf begins its 2013 campaign in style with the Volvo Golf Champions and the World Final of the Volvo World Golf Challenge. The Volvo Golf Champions is the season-opening event only open to proven winners, one that is shown live on television all over the world. With further coverage in the newspapers and online, it becomes the sport’s centre of attention for several days as Open Champions compete with Ryder Cup heroes and rising stars to see who will take the coveted crown. And whilst this is being staged at Durban Country Club, South Africa, just a few miles up the coast at Zimbali, 68 national winners from events staged throughout the year in approaching 30 countries, will converge to see who will be crowned the ultimate champion in the Volvo World Golf Challenge.
On the day before the start of the Volvo Golf Champions, there is a Pro-Am at which each of the professionals is joined by three of Volvo’s valued clients to play a competitive but friendly round of golf. And on the Monday after the final round, there is a chance to play the superb Durban Country Club course just as it was set up for the professionals the day before with the pins in exactly the same position. All of these events allow Volvo to get really close to its customers and spend invaluable one-to-one time with them.
“With our products on display both on and off the course, the Volvo Golf Champions gives us a perfect opportunity to showcase all that we do. This applies both in South Africa, which is an important market for Volvo, as well as to our global audience as the championship is televised and reported all over the world. Such an event allows us not only to highlight our brand and values, but very importantly also to engage directly with our customers and partners before, during and after the golf”, says Volvo Group CEO Olof Persson.
The Volvo Group’s range of products including both trucks and construction equipment are highly visible both on and off the course. There will also be not one but two Hole in One prizes from the Volvo Group at the Volvo Golf Champions. The first is a Volvo Compact Excavator EC55 while the second one is more unusual, an all-new Volvo FH Truck, the world’s strongest truck, pulling up to 750 horsepower.
