The D12-300 is a compact, fuel-efficient and fully electronically controlled marine diesel with a 12-liter displacement, delivering 300 horsepower. It complies with all international emission requirements, including EU 2006 and EPA 2, and has been inspected and approved by the Indian Register of Shipping (IRS).
Survey Motor Boats for Indian Navy
Volvo Penta has also signed an order to supply the Indian navy. The order pertains to 10 nos 9.2 m Survey Motor Boats (SMB), each to be fitted with two D3-160 engines with Duoprop drive.
The D3-160 is an advanced five-cylinder marine diesel with an electronically controlled common-rail fuel-injection system, variable geometry turbocharger, and 4 valves per cylinder among other features. The aluminum cylinder block combined with the Duoprop drive weighs only 330 kg.
Fuel consumption is low, as are emissions. The engine complies with all international emission requirements.
