Innovation award to the new QL trim system

The newly launched QL Boat Trim System has been awarded a prestigious innovation award in the US. The trade association for marine manufacturers, NMMA (National Marine Manufacturers Association), jointly with a jury of international boating journalists, selected the QL Boat Trim System as the best innovation in the propulsion category.

The award was presented at ceremonies held in conjunction with the MAATS marine accessories trade show in Las Vegas.

In announcing the award, the jury cited the following:

“The judges from BWI were impressed with the QL Trim System from Volvo Penta due to its simple and clean design and four-button control system.  A revolutionary form of trim tab, the QL system pushes a plate vertically downward up to about two inches, rather than extending a plate aft of the hull.  Volvo Penta says boats that use this system are quicker to plane, have less drag and have much higher reliability.”

Technical data
The QL Boat Trim System fits virtually all types of planing boats from about 18 to more than 50 feet, with various types of propulsion systems – outboard, inboard, stern drive, water jet and, of course, Volvo Penta’s new IPS system.

A complete QL Boat Trim System comprises:

•  Interceptor, 300 or 450 mm wide, to mount on the transom. Up to four interceptors can be mounted in parallel on a boat, two on each side of the transom stern.

•  The control unit is mounted in the boat, with plug-contacts to the interceptors and control panel(s).

•  Control panel (s) for one or several helm stations. Up to four helm stations can be connected.

•  QL Boat Trim System can be connected to 12 or 24 volts.
