Volvo Group North America (VGNA) recently donated one of the first Volvo VNR electric pilot trucks to the North Carolina Transportation Museum in Spencer, North Carolina. Hand-built for the Volvo LIGHTS (Low Impact Green Heavy Transport Solutions) project, this truck was put in real-world commercial operations, and the learnings were used by engineers at Volvo Trucks’ headquarters in Greensboro, North Carolina to develop one of the first commercial battery-electric vehicles (BEVs) in North Carolina.

GREENSBORO, NC (May 30, 2024) – To help the City of Kingston, Ontario, achieve its sustainability goals, its municipal leaders recently ordered two Mack® LR Electric battery-electric vehicle (BEV) refuse models. The Mack LR Electric vehicles will be the city’s first two BEVs in its refuse fleet.

Volvo Trucks North America (VTNA) and Volvo Financial Services (VFS) have joined forces to form Volvo on Demand, a collaborative initiative to change and lead the industry in the Truck-as-a-Service (TaaS) business model. Using 25 Class 8 Volvo VNR Electric trucks, Volvo on Demand was designed as an innovative solution to simplify the acquisition and reduce the major upfront investment in battery-electric vehicles. Volvo on Demand provides qualified customers with flexible term options as short as 12 months and includes Volvo Trucks’ industry leading Gold Contract and the option to bundle vehicle insurance for physical damage and collision, route planning and optimization guidance, as well as consultation to find the best charging solution and incentives that might be available. Volvo on Demand is the next way to leverage the established electromobility ecosystem tailored for Volvo VNR Electric trucks in North America.

LAS VEGAS (May 21, 2023) Mack Trucks announced today that 24 dealerships across the United States and Canada have recently achieved Certified Electric Vehicle (EV) status. With these additions, nine more states and one province joined the network, bringing the total number of EV certified dealerships to 53, a significant milestone in the journey to sustainable mobility.

Purpose designed and built for autonomy; the fully redundant truck will enable autonomous transport.

The Volvo Group today announced that it will build a new heavy-duty truck manufacturing plant in Mexico to supplement the Group’s U.S. production. The plant will provide additional capacity to support the growth plans of both Volvo Trucks and Mack Trucks in the U.S. and Canadian markets, and support Mack truck sales in Mexico and Latin America.  The plant is expected to be operational in 2026.

GREENSBORO, NC (Dec. 18, 2023) – Mack Trucks customer WIN Waste Innovations, a leader in the recycling and waste industry, recently received two Mack LR Electric Class 8 refuse vehicles to become the first company in Massachusetts to power electric trucks exclusively by the waste collected by the trucks themselves.

ALLENTOWN, PA — (Dec. 12, 2023)— Mack Defense announced today that it has teamed with BAE Systems, a leader in heavy-duty electric propulsion, to deliver an alternative-propulsion solution for the Common Tactical Truck (CTT) prototype vehicles to the U.S. Army for testing. BAE Systems supplied its Gen3 propulsion and accessories power management systems to Mack Defense for integration on the truck variants to drastically reduce fuel demand.

Volvo Trucks North America announced that Vanguard Truck Centers has completed its Volvo Trucks Certified Electric Vehicle (EV) Dealer program at five locations — Phoenix, Arizona; Atlanta, Georgia (Forest Park); Charlotte, North Carolina; and Austin and Houston, Texas — to provide comprehensive sales and service support for customers’ electromobility journeys. With the addition of Vanguard’s five locations, Volvo Trucks has now expanded its Certified EV Dealer network into three additional states — Arizona, Georgia, and North Carolina — bringing its total to 50 certified dealership locations in 24 U.S. states and three Canadian provinces across North America.

GREENSBORO, NC (Dec. 4, 2023) – Mack Trucks announced today that Vanguard Truck Centers recently achieved Certified Electric Vehicle (EV) status at several of its locations, including in Phoenix, making it the first Mack Certified EV Dealer in Arizona. Vanguard locations in Austin and Houston, Texas are also certified. This certification enables Vanguard to service and support the Mack® LR Electric refuse truck, Mack’s first fully electric Class 8 vehicle and Mack® MD Electric medium-duty vehicle.
